Prusa MK4 build volume and fit check
The MK4 has a 250 × 210 × 220 mm build volume, so the plate is not square. A part can measure 250 mm along X but only 210 mm along Y; a quarter turn is often enough to make a long model fit. The checker compares the bounding box in all six axis-aligned orientations and reports the best one.

Model-specific limits
- The Y depth is 210 mm, not 250 mm. Treating the plate as a 250 mm square is the most common way to get an MK4 fit result wrong.
- The MK4 Z height is 220 mm, 10 mm more than the MK3S+. Do not reuse an MK3S+ profile when checking a tall part.
- The open frame is not ideal for ABS or ASA without an enclosure. The dimensional result does not include warp or draughts.
What fits
The 250 mm X axis suits brackets, jigs and replacement parts. Rotate long parts onto X when the Y depth is the limiting dimension.
The MK4 is a good fit for everyday PLA and PETG parts. Keep a 5 mm margin for a skirt or brim when using the full plate.
The extra 10 mm of Z over the MK3S+ matters for stacked parts. Check the exact height before reusing a proven MK3S+ profile.
Orientation tips
- Try a 90-degree rotation first when a model is slightly over 210 mm in Y; it may fit along the 250 mm X axis.
- When a model approaches 250 mm in X, reduce the brim or move the part away from the prime line.
- For tall parts, verify the 220 mm height against the slicer profile, not a generic MK4 spec sheet.
