Print readiness/Checks
3D printer bed fit checker (local)
Check whether a model fits common printer beds without uploading it. The Worker reads only the model bounds, then compares the dimensions with each listed build volume in all six axis-aligned orientations. Adjust the model unit and XY clearance to see the fit report update instantly.

Dimensions come from the bounding box. Reorienting can make a model fit but may add supports or change strength; clearance is XY-only, and glTF/GLB files often use metres, so confirm the unit selector.

How it works
- 1
Drop an STL, OBJ, PLY, 3MF, GLB, or self-contained glTF file.
- 2
The Worker parses the geometry and returns its bounding box without building the full topology edge map.
- 3
Choose the model unit and an optional XY clearance; dimensions are converted to millimetres.
- 4
The model is compared with every listed build volume using all six axis-aligned orientations.
- 5
Read whether each printer fits as oriented, fits after reorientation, or needs a uniform scale.
What the numbers mean
Dimensions are the axis-aligned bounding box. A tilted or irregular model can have a larger box than its visual footprint, and a concave shape can leave unused space inside it.
The check tries six axis-aligned permutations. A reoriented fit is only a dimensional possibility; it can change strength, surface finish, support volume, and print time.
Clearance is removed from the usable X and Y bed size on both sides. Z keeps the full build height. Add clearance for skirts, brims, purge lines, or printer-specific margins.
This is a build-volume check, not a printability verdict. It does not test overhangs, wall thickness, self-intersections, supports, or whether the slicer's usable area is smaller than the nominal bed.
Printing notes
- Enable a skirt or brim in the slicer if the model is close to the bed edge and add the same clearance here.
- Reorienting to fit may move a large flat face onto a different axis; check supports and layer strength before committing.
- Use the transform tool to rotate or scale a model after checking that the dimensions are in the expected unit.
- Confirm the exact printer profile in the slicer; enclosures, purge areas, and clips can reduce the nominal build volume.
