STL to PLY converter (local)
Convert binary or ASCII STL to binary little-endian PLY in the browser. Binary STL is streamed in 4 MiB slices, the Worker welds shared vertices, and the PLY is assembled as a local download.

Binary STL streams in 4 MiB slices; ASCII STL streams line by line.

How it works
- 1
Drop one binary or ASCII STL file.
- 2
The Worker streams binary STL in 4 MiB slices and ASCII STL line by line.
- 3
Shared vertices are welded and the PLY writer emits vertex and face chunks.
- 4
Download the binary PLY locally. No upload is performed.
What the numbers mean
STL is unitless. Coordinates are written to PLY without rescaling; confirm the intended unit before printing or importing.
The output contains only positions and triangular faces. STL has no colors or normals to carry over, so the converter does not invent them.
Printing notes
- PLY is a useful interchange format when you need shared vertex indices rather than STL's repeated triangle corners.
- The output is binary little-endian PLY with a compact triangle face list.
- Keep the original STL until the converted PLY is verified in your target tool.
