Format conversion/Mesh ↔ mesh
PLY to GLB converter (local)
Convert ASCII or binary PLY to a glTF 2.0 binary GLB locally. The Worker reads the PLY header and elements, triangulates faces, and writes the GLB download.

The input is streamed in 4 MiB slices; the output is assembled in the Worker and downloaded locally.

ASCII, little-endian, and big-endian PLY are read element by element; extra vertex attributes are skipped.

How it works
- 1
Drop a PLY file.
- 2
The Worker reads the PLY header and vertex/face elements.
- 3
Polygon faces are triangulated and the GLB writer emits one mesh in JSON and BIN chunks.
- 4
Download the GLB locally. No upload is performed.
What the numbers mean
PLY is unitless and the writer preserves numeric coordinates. glTF conventionally uses metres; the converter does not rescale.
The GLB contains positions and triangle indices only. PLY colors, normals, confidence values, and extra properties are not written.
Printing notes
- GLB is suited to web viewers; check its unit interpretation before printing.
- PLY polygons are triangulated and all elements are merged into one mesh.
- Keep the original PLY until the GLB is verified.
