Format conversion/Mesh ↔ mesh
OBJ to glTF converter (local)
Convert OBJ to a self-contained glTF 2.0 JSON file locally. The Worker parses the source, merges or triangulates it, and embeds the binary buffer as base64 in the download.
Conversion

The input is streamed in 4 MiB slices; the output is assembled in the Worker and downloaded locally.

Drop an OBJ here
OBJ text streams in 4 MiB slices. Quads and polygons are fan-triangulated; groups merge into one mesh.

How it works
- 1
Drop a OBJ file.
- 2
The Worker parses the source and builds one indexed triangle mesh.
- 3
A self-contained glTF JSON with an embedded base64 buffer is assembled.
- 4
Download the .gltf locally. No upload is performed.
What the numbers mean
Source coordinates are written as glTF numeric coordinates without rescaling. glTF conventionally uses metres; the converter does not convert source units.
The glTF contains one mesh, one node, float32 positions, and uint32 triangle indices. OBJ materials, colors, and normals are not written.
Printing notes
- The output is a single .gltf file with an embedded buffer; no sibling .bin is produced.
- glTF commonly uses metres; check the unit scale in the target viewer.
- Keep the original source until the glTF is verified.
